SYNONYM  AND HOMONYM

SYNONYM 
           
     Synonym its one of two or more words or expressions of the same language that have same or nearly the same meaning in some or all sense. Synonym are word with the same or similar meanings. Words that are synonyms are said to be synonymous, and the state of being a synonym is called synonym. The word comes  from Ancient Greek syn (‘with’) and onoma (name). In the figuratuve sense, two words are often said to be synonymous if they have the same connotation. Synonyms can be any part of speech ( such as nouns,verbs,adjectives,adverbs or preposition), as long as both words are the same part of speech.

HOMONYM
                Homonym its  one of two or more spelled and pronounced a like but different in meaning (such as the noun quail and the verb quail) each of two or more words having the same spelling or pronunciation but different meanings and origins.
·       Homophones : words that sound alike but have different spellings, like a bear ( a large     animal) and bare (uncovered) in the first joke above.
·         Homographs : word that are spelled the same but have different meaning, like two meanings of the word flies ( insects) and flies ( travel through the air)
